Finding the "RIGHT" trainer, the "RIGHT" program, at the "RIGHT" price may be daunting.
The internet has opened up the floodgates to a plethora of information and options! So if you're anything like me, indecision takes play and it can be extremely overwhelming. But how do you get passed all the promises that "THIS is the ONLY way to make gains"? Well, that answer is easier than you think.
First off, if someone is telling you that there's only one way to do something, your red flag should be in the air already. The fitness industry is vast, and though there's a lot of information floating around one thing actually is certain. There's more than one way to get you to where you want to be. Alternatives live here! Struggle with pull-ups, we have alternative exercises to boost your upper body and core strength to help you improve. Did a trainer swear by the treadmill for weight loss? BLASPHEMY! There are SO many other options out there!
The one thing I love most about this industry is that there are so many interesting and fun ways to reach a similar goal. It doesn't have to be boring. Cardio is not reserved to just a treadmill or bike. Sports training isn't just for athletes. Get out of your head, and into your heart. What games did you enjoy playing in your youth? Turn it into something you can enjoy as an adult. Working out shouldn't feel like a chore. Finding a trainer shouldn't feel like searching for a needle in a haystack. Don't get lost in the abyss. No program is one size fits all. So find a trainer that isn't just aiming to make a quick buck, and takes the time to hear your goals, struggles, and ailments. That attention to detail and empathy will set them apart from the others.
So don't drown in a pool of repetitive information, or be turned away by trainers bashing each other trying to compete for clients. Find where you feel you're valued, and continue to take the steps needed in order to bring your Vision To Action. At the end of the day, most trainers and coaches live for that feeling. Knowing they did so much to help someone reach their goals, especially when they thought it was unattainable.
